people making a difference
2012
holly byrom
Holly Byrom is a graduating senior with a Bachelor of Art in Communication Studies, with an emphasis in Organizational Communication at CSUC. She will be doing a 150 hour internship with BTG this spring to help us prepare for our 5th Annual Walk4Water. We have spent a few hour working together and feel privileged to have her as part of the BTG team.
butte college sife club
Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE) is a student organization that is sponsored by Butte College, The Associated Students and the Business Education Department. SIFE offers students the opportunity to put the skills they learn in the classroom into practice while serving the college and our community. SIFE has chosen to be involved with the 5th Annual Walk4Water and we are so appreciative of this partnership. Andy Radler is the SIFE Advisor.
drue glatther
Drue is 12 years old and is a student at Wildflower Elementary School. He has been making origami since he was 8 years old and loves it! As a class project, Drue decided to make origami jewelry that he named “Wishing Ones”. They are now being sold at Bridging the Gap Market. All the proceeds go to Bridging the Gap.
kathy baker
A group of children in Kathy Baker’s classroom from Grace Connection raised a little over $200 for a treadle pump to be built in a developing country.
natalie o’neil
Natalie O’Neil attended VBX ( Vacation Bible Xperience) at Evangelical Free Church this summer and was inspired to help people in developing countries to have clean water. Natalie and her family sponsored a car wash for Bridging the Gap. They raised a little over $500. The highlight of the car wash for me was seeing all the people of different ages working together. I had so much fun at this event. Thank you, Natalie!
robin smith
Robin Smith dedicated her first Triathlon this month to Bridging the Gap, and was able to raise over $600! She is truly an inspiration!
lora adams
Many of us enjoyed Lora Adams’ catering at BTG’s Annual Appreciation Dinner. I am privileged to have Lora as a daughter-in-law, and very thankful for her generosity of time to create such fun menus!
giovanna vera
Giovanna Vera helped us prepare for the W4W and now she is helping with mass emailing and our website. She is studying engineering and has a true love for our thirsty world.
luke and brea smith
I can’t thank Luke and Brea Smith enough for all the help that they have given to Bridging the Gap. Luke has worked at all the W4W’s and Brea has helped me with many boutiques and Farmer’s Markets.
Marisol Andrade
Marisol Andrade walked in the 3rd Annual Walk4Water and decided that she would like to volunteer. She now comes once a week to do deliveries, pricing and whatever needs to be done. I soooo appreciate her!
Jessica farrell
I want to thank Jessica Farrell and her daughter for creating interactive African Art for the Walk4Water. Jessica is an employee of North Valley Eye Care, a financial supporter of the Walk4Water.
Soroptimist Club
The Soroptimist Club supports BTG by putting together a team of walkers. Shirley Adams was awarded the Ruby Award for Women Helping Women and received $1,000 for BTG.
Mrs. Peterson’s Class
A big thank you goes out to the sixth graders from Chico Country Day Charter School under the direction of Mrs. Peterson for carrying the informational signs for the W4W.
Buddy Nottingham
Buddy and Gail Nottingham have volunteered for BTG from the beginning. Gail is my webmaster and trains others to work on BTG’s website. She has also designed many of the invitations that you have received and does some photography for the Walk4Water. Buddy has helped Grant with setting up and tearing down the W4W and always wins the prize for the best bucket. This year Buddy turned his bucket into a squirting one and the kids loved it! Both Buddy and Gail have been such an encouragement to me.
Jesse Sherba
Jesse Sherba has volunteered his time every year at the Walk4Water. He is always the first to arrive, and the last to leave. I can’t thank him enough for all that he does, and you can thank him and Starbucks for all the delicious hot coffee!
Wildflower Charter School
A big thanks to Wildflower Charter School for promoting our 4th Annual W4W. After a presentation of the great need for water globally, the students went outside to participate in a water walk of their own. They soon learned how heavy water can be. Many of them will be at the W4W this Saturday!
Haley Mirts
Haley has been volunteering for BTG for four years, and it is hard to imagine not having her by my side. I so appreciate her using her photography, artistic talent and computer skills for Bridging the Gap.
Ian Roffe
Ian Roffe, a student at Chico State, designed a Walk4Water passport for primary and secondary students to use at the Walk4Water, many of which are getting extra credit from their classes. Parents, teachers and students can request one by calling Shirley Adams at (530) 342-5746.
RHAPS Club
I want to thank the Chico State Recreation Department’s RHAPS club for the support that they have given to Bridging the Gap. Last year, several students played a major role at the WAlk4Water. While Grant and I were biking Coast to Coast, they put on a sucessful W4W on campus to promote our 4th annual W4W.
Evangelical Free Church
The first 200 walkers to register for the 2012 Walk4Water will be able to pick out a decorated bucket. We want to thank the many children from Evangelical Free Church for decorating them!
Church of Christ Youth Group
The youth group under the leadership of Lyle and Wendy Thompson have been involved with the Walk4Water for each walk. Each year they walk as a team, and this year they will be assembling the goodie bags as they did last year! On February 12, they will be serving lunch at noon to raise money for the 4th Annual Walk4Water. I know where I’ll be having lunch!
First Year Experience
Last year the students of First Year Experience became a part of the Walk4Water by promoting the walk on the campus of Chico State, displaying wind mills at the walk, doing graphic design and walking the walk. The students this year are creating a game for everyone and Walk4Water passports for students. I can’t thank the students enough for the professionalism and enthusiasm that they bring.
