2011

leila Rodriguez

I met Leila Rodriguez the day before the 2011 Walk4Water. Leila, a journalism major at Chico State, was interested in video taping the event. She recently interviewed me after our Coast-to-Coast ride, featuring me in the article “The Builder Behind Bridging the Gap.” I look forward to her being one of the volunteers for the 4th Annual Walk4Water. I want to thank her for using her unique gifts to change the world.

These three boys from Evangelical Free’s Vacation Bible School went door to door in their neighborhood and washed cars to raise money for safe water projects in developing countries.

Shirley has been invited to share about our thirsty world at the Evangelical Free Church’s daily vacation Bible school. The children will be collecting an offering everyday for World Vision, a partner of BTG that supports clean water projects in West Africa. All the funds will be matched dollar for dollar by the Conrad Hilton Foundation. The children will also be decorating buckets for our fourth annual Walk4Water on March 24, 2012.

Luke Smith was one of the volunteers that helped to make the W4W a success. Luke, along with others, helped fill the buckets for walkers who did not want to risk being close to the rushing stream.

first-year experience

I can’t thank a group of students in the First Year Experience Program enough for all they’ve done to promote this years W4W. They have been busy arranging several speaking engagements, creating a bucket carrying day on campus, inspiring newspaper articles, and posting the W4W on the school calendar. They will help at the Walk by walking and providing an education station.
