Clean Water=Healthy Children

Today I had the privilege to mail a check for $13,500 for a project for the development of a Healthy Village in Uganda.  The villagers worked hard to develop a healthy village and now they will be receiving the gift of a bore hole that provides clean water and TivaWater Filters.  Your continued support in giving is making this possible.

Villagers Working Hard

A Mother/Daughter team work together to dig a pit latrine for a family. When I saw this photo, I realized that cleaning a toilet was not that bad.

Hand-Pumped Borehole

I will never forget pumping from my first borehole that a group of college students helped to raise money for. Carrying the water was more than I could handle.

TivaWater Filters

When we have the funds we love to provide TivaWater filters to families and schools.

This is the last photo took when we finished our ride.  Yes we were tired, sweaty, windblown, and very happy to have completed our biking in Nebraska and South Dakota.  Our team included all of you that followed us by praying, encouraging, and giving.  Our goal was to raise $11,000 and we ended up raising $15,123.

“For all that has been, THANKS.  For all that will be, YES.”

I so appreciated receiving this info from Lifewater International, who BTG4WATER partners with.  BTG recently donated $12,000 to Lifewater, which was matched.  Two villages in Uganda were transformed.

Following is a story that comes from the village of Kakundwa. It illustrates the hope you are providing through your gifts of safe water!

Kyalimpa shook her head in disbelief when recalling what life used to look like in her small Ugandan village. The only water source was a swamp 7 kilometers away, a journey that took 6 hours. They collected unsafe water there every 3 days. There were no latrines in the village. Though the land was fertile, the trips for water and waterborne diseases left little time or energy to actually reap a harvest. There was not enough produce to eat, let alone sell for an income. Her children dropped out of school to help in the fields. Kyalimpa shared, "I had given up hope of ever enjoying life. The water circumstances of my village were suffocating and squeezed every dream from us."

God saw Kyalimpa's despair and worked through you to meet her needs! Kyalimpa's village now has clean water, everyone is healthy, and their harvest is bountiful. Her grandchildren are all in school.

Kyalimpa exclaimed, ”I have just started dreaming at 55, all thanks to the safe water we got. I have just started living. I’m excited for my grandchildren who will live better lives. I’m so happy!”

Wow, that's a lot of transformation that BTG has made possible! I pray you are encouraged by the images and story above. Thanks for all you do!

From New York to the beaches of the West Coast, caring people grabbed their buckets and headed outdoors to Walk4Water. No one was too young or too old to take part in this fun, educational, awareness-raising event.

Due to the generosity of caring people, the Walk4Water raised $24,970. $24,000 will be matched, for a total of $48,970. All funds raised will go toward clean water projects and education in sanitation and hygiene. BTG is forever grateful to everyone who participated in the Walk4Water.
